Is profiling such a bad thing??
In a recent discussion on my car forum, we've been dissecting the nuances of profiling Islamic extremists. While on paper this may seem like a logical route to ensure domestic safety, it is far from simple. Granted, we do have a profile for the 60+ terrorist acts against the U.S. and its citizens: militant Islamic extremist ages 17-41. No gender, no national origin, and no physical attributes define this large group. It has been said that profiling Muslims in America is akin to the Japanese internment camps of WWII. But, when was the last time Granny Mae and Uncle Wilber strapped a pack of ball-bearings and C4 to their coveralls, in order to create a painting similar to a Jackson Pollock work...only using their innards as the paint and a café as the canvas??

Hehee! Yeah if I decided to ninja-splode the White House or something I'd hope they would profile all tattoo'd amazon white chics around the world! Seriously though, profiling is a necessity in ALL police, FBI, etc and it sucks for the ones being profiled (I do know from personal experience) but for now until technology allows us other venues we must "grin and bear it" ....Now where did I put that duct tape.....
Hehe! Ninja-splode. That's good.
As to the topic, if short, round white women went around blowing up gyms and causing hate and discontent, I'm sure that I might be a suspect, at least for a short while because of my profile. Would I be offended? I might be for a short time, knickers in a twist and all that, but in the long run, if it helps to catch the bad guys, then why not?
I think the problem with profiling Islamic militants is that there's so many. Genders, ages, areas of origin. It's a wide spread phenomenon. Unfortunately for the non-asplody Muslims living around the world, there isn't a more specific profile.
I might be wrong. Just got up. Went to see Poison last night. Hehe - that was fun.
